Yesterday was a completely average day until about 5 o'clock, when it started to thunder. No rain, just thunder. Suddenly, it down poured, including massive chunks of hail. This ridiculous storm terrorized our area for quite a while, threatening to rip Club Awesome and send trees into our houses. Just as the storm finished up, as the rain decreased to a drizzle and the sky turned blue, our power went off. Now, we don't get power outages often, so when we do, it's a big deal. Grace and I ran through the house lighting every candle in sight, grabbing book lights and flashlights in the process. After the mad dash for supplies, I plopped myself down in a comfy chair and continued reading "The Stand" by Stephen King. Since no fans were working, I opened the window next to me. When Grace saw that the window was open, she got very nervous- she had this theory that the cat or dog would jump out the window. This point is somewhat valid; this room is on the second floor of our house and both animals are always trying to escape. But naturally, my mom and I joked about this ("I didn't know Kitty was depressed"). I promised that I would watch the window to make Grace feel better. Soon, it was too dark to read, and my light needed batteries, so I abandoned my chair and worked on getting a usable book light. When I came back, the cat was out the window. There's an air conditioning unit perched to the right of the window, and my enormous black cat was just standing on the metal box. Grace started sobbing, but it took about two seconds and the word "Treat!" to make the cat walk back in. This sight is forever engraved in my memory. The power came back on at about 9, three hours after it went out.
Well that's my storm story. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
Lily
P.S. If you know of any treatment options for depressed kitties, please let me know. Thank you.

Give your cat some catnip every day.
Lily Marie, that is one great storm story! Except from the thought of Gracie sobbing, i thoroughly enjoyed it!
P.S. A cat's nine lives come in handy. Thank goodness BUDDY didn't jump out the window!
P.P.S. I was out driving in that storm. Egads! When I got home, I had to run from my car to my apartment dodging bullets of hail and lightning bolts (a slight exaggeration), only to discover that my power was out. Amanda was in NC, so I was . . . . alone. Alone! Sat out on the balcony and read until I was sleepy from the eye-strain. It was too early for bed, so I lay on the couch and closed my eyes, resigned to an uncomfortable and un-electric night — but the power returned a moment later. But my REAL storm story is this: the whole time I was without electricity, I was thinking about calling The Gullions to see if I could come over and share your lights and life! HA! Little did I know!
Hahaha! If you had come over during the storm, you would've see Mom and Dad sitting on the porch, Grace holding the animals' collars with all her might, and me taking pictures of outside from every available window. I'm so sorry that you suffered from no electricity- I thoroughly disliked it too.
Love you Bonnie!
